[HELMOND, Netherlands] – Alltech Coppens, a global specialist in developing and producing high-quality, innovative nutritional solutions for fish, has published its 2025 Sustainability Report. This report offers an overview of the company’s commitment to sustainability and demonstrates Alltech Coppens’ mission of Working Together for a Planet of Plenty®, as well as its journey to help improve the health and performance of people, animals and plants through nutrition and scientific innovation.
Through the careful management of resources, as well as its scientific research and partnerships with customers, Alltech Coppens is contributing to a more sustainable aquaculture industry. The 2025 Alltech Coppens Sustainability Report highlights how the company is researching, developing and commercialising better alternatives – like the Aquate™ premixes and circular raw materials – and working with partners around the world to spearhead sustainable developments.
“At Alltech Coppens, we feel a strong responsibility toward sustainability,” said Ronald Faber, CEO of Alltech Coppens and global aqua lead for Alltech. “Our mission remains clear: to produce high-quality fish feeds responsibly, supporting safe and reliable food production while conserving natural resources. In 2025, this responsibility became more relevant than ever, and we remain fully committed to driving progress toward a more environmentally sustainable and ethical world.”
“Sustainability is not a box we tick; it’s a mindset that guides everything we do,” said Guido Crolla, manager of procurement, sustainability and IT at Alltech Coppens. “From the raw materials we carefully select to the way we design and power our research centre, sustainability is embedded in every decision. We see it as a continuous journey: challenging ourselves to reduce our environmental footprint, to innovate responsibly, and to work side by side with our stakeholders in building more sustainable food systems for the future.”
The 2025 Alltech Coppens Sustainability Report offers numerous insights, including these noteworthy highlights:
- In 2025, 92,3% of the company’s raw materials were produced within Europe. Of those raw materials, 71% came from Germany and neighbouring countries.
- In 2025, 71,7% of the marine ingredients were made out of trimmings and 100% of the marine raw materials were from trimmings and/or were certified according to sustainable standards, including fishery improvement projects (FIPs). Even when excluding the FIPs, 100% of the fish oil and 85,9% of the fishmeal used in the company’s products came from trimmings and/or was certified.
- In 2025, the company’s residual waste totalled 35.970 kilograms. They decreased the usage of their residual waste by 58,8% compared to the usage in base year 2021 (85.660 kilograms) — and by 5% compared to 2024 (37.780 kilograms). Compared to last year, they decreased their feed residues by more than 23%.
- In 2025, Alltech Coppens’ total carbon footprint (CF) measured 43.991.939,88 kilograms of CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e) — which breaks down to 0,970 kilograms of CO₂e per kilogram of fish feed. In base year 2021, their CF broke down to 1,118 kilograms of CO₂e per kilogram of fish feed. The 2025 total represents a reduction from the 2021 base year of 0,148 CO₂e per kilogram of feed (13,2%).
- 0,0569 kilograms of the CO₂e per kilogram of feed (5,9%) came from Scope 1 emissions, while Scope 2 emissions represented 0% of CO₂e per kilogram of feed. Scope 3 emissions made up the largest portion (94,1%), being responsible for 0,9131 kilograms of CO₂e per kilogram of feed. For reference, Scope 1 and 2 emissions are related to energy, water and waste, while Scope 3 emissions are related to raw feed materials.
- In 2018, the first reporting year, the company measured a CO2 footprint of 220 kilograms of CO2 per trial day. In 2025, this has been decreased to a CO2 footprint of 3,98 kilograms of CO2 per trial day — a deduction of 98,2% in just seven years.

The Alltech Coppens team intends to make more progress in 2026.
“Looking ahead to 2030, we will continue to advance research at the Alltech Coppens Aqua Centre, refine our raw material strategies and further strengthen our leadership in sustainable aquaculture,” Faber said. “Our journey toward Alltech’s purpose of Working Together for a Planet of Plenty® is made possible through the dedication and collaboration of our teams and partners. This report highlights their valuable contributions, and I am proud of the passion and professionalism that drive our company forward.”
